Introducing the Cargly JavaScript API (BETA)

This is a very early release of our JavaScript API. In this release you can add our library to your website and use it to:

  • Allow Cargly users to sign into your site using their Cargly account.
  • Access a Cargly user's information
  • Access a Cargly user's vehicle information
  • Access a vehicle's activity information (refuleings, service, trips, etc)
  • Access a vehicle's monthly statistics (totals and averages for expenses and fuel economy, CPM, etc)
  • Access a vehicle's current and historical health scores
  • Access a vehicle's time series data (OpenXC or other vehicle sensor integrations)

For example, if your site deals with people's vehicles, by using our API you'll be able to see all the vehicles a user already has in our system without requiring them to re-enter their vehicle information. If your users have already entered their vehicle information within your site, you can use the API to make it easy for your users to take advantage of Cargly's many features like the service log or service reminders.

This is just the beginning. Over the next few months, we'll be rolling out improvements to the API including the ability to update information, access records from the service log, and even add service reminders. We're making this available now so you can let us know what functionality you'd like to see made available.

When you sign into the developer console, there's a section with code samples to help you get started.

Coming Soon: Time-series API!

With our soon to be available time-series API, developers will be able to push time-series data into the Cargly Platform via an easy to use REST API. We built this API as part of the work we did for the Ford Personalized Fuel-Efficiency Challenge.

This API will allow mobile app developers to pull data from vehicles (using vehicle APIs like Ford's OpenXC) and publish it to the Cargly Platform. The API can also be used by device manufacturers that build vehicle accessories — giving them a location in the cloud to store vehicle information.

Stay tuned!
